Sunday Snippet: Missing You

February kind of flew by, which isn't actually a big shock since it's a short month anyway. But, man, I kind of wish it went by a little slower. I'm always scrounging around for time and short months make me feel like there's less to be had.

Still had trouble focusing this week but I got a lot accomplished on my work projects despite my distraction. Luckily, I have more than one project going so I can hop around when I start to lose my concentration.

Had an okay week of viewing. I have to figure out what's going on with one of my streamers. That could take another week. But I did get through most of my usual shows.

Started with My Life Is Murder and actually got two episodes watched. I like the pickup with Alexa's brother again. I wondered if we'd see him this season. Also enjoyed both cases Alexa had to solve.

Watched the first part of Agatha Raisin. Poor James. I can't wait to find out who offed his bride. I love the interaction between all the characters, but I'm sad Roy isn't in this one. At least not yet.

Caught another episode of Silent Witness. Kind of enjoyed having another case mixed in with the ongoing saga of Sam Ryan. I'm really not sure what's going on with her and I'm not going to be super surprised if she ends up being in the clear. Also loved Nikki and Jack's date. Nice to get some backstory with Simone, too.

Enjoyed an episode of Death in Paradise. I remember bits of this one and I'm glad I got to see the whole thing from start to finish. Not a bad opening for season six.

Watched another episode of Elementary. I liked seeing Sherlock realize he'd way overstepped with the NYPD. Also loved having the captain kind of take some of his dignity back.

Caught another episode of The Batman. I'm not as fond of this season and I remember feeling this way when I watched originally. The new format grew on me, and I'll settle back in and enjoy, but I really loved the first season of this show the most.

Enjoyed the penultimate episode of The Secret Life of Amy Benson. Everything is coming to a head, and I can't wait to see how this ends.

Also rewatched the Battlestar Galactica resistance webisodes. Groundbreaking at the time, there's a lot of story packed into ten mini-episodes. And twenty years later, I'm still stunned at how prescient the writers were for what's going on in the world today.

And that's pretty much it for the life update this week. Tonight's post is from Missing You, a novella that brings a couple together after a lot of ups and downs.

Here's the miniblurb:

Clara Small, the best undercover operative in military intelligence, tends to burn bridges instead of building them. But when she destroys the one she needs the most, she has to find a way to make amends, which won't be easy because Wes Elliot rarely gives second chances.

And a sneaky peek…

Ah damn, I'm tired.

Too tired.

Clara tossed over from her stomach to her side. She and Xen met up with a resistance group just outside of Delphinia and, luckily for them, got invited to crash for a while at their base of operations in the former hospital.

Basic needs … food, water, and, oh yeah … a shower, met, Clara just wanted to sleep and not wake up for a week.

Except she couldn't sleep.

Damn it all to hell.

She rolled to her back and stared at the ceiling.

Why wouldn't her brain shut the hell up? Not even a tri-net game with a hot guy—who cared if he looked an awful lot like Wes—or her usual chin-ups seemed to break through the tension.

Oooo-kay. Run it down then.

She jumped back here … Deimos … under need-to-know orders … for what? Some epic deep cover mission to infiltrate the enemy camp only to get her ass kicked by some raven-haired amazon before she'd barely even left her ship.

Geez … she still had aches from that little set down.

But Clara had the last laugh. She walked away … Richter—1, Raven Bitch—0.

And Xen. Thank the universe for Xen. She hadn't expected an ally, but she got one. Thank the universe he hadn't been killed in action as reported. They needed everyone they could find on their side.

At least she hoped she had an ally. Xen had been hooked up with Sharee, a possible enemy agent or maybe just someone who played both sides to their own benefit. When the other woman ripped off Clara's ride, Sharee didn't leave Xen with much of a choice but to throw in with Clara.

Her gain. Sharee's loss.

So … why did she feel like shit?

Because I fucked everything up again. She didn't like how things were left with Wes. Which explained her edgy, jumbled-up feeling that wouldn't let her sleep.

Clara's in a deep, dark place, and when she finally realizes Wes is the light at the end of her tunnel, things get really interesting.

That's it for this week. Catch everyone on the flipside.

Sunday Snippet: Missing You

Not a bad week overall. I had time to get some solid organizing completed and I'm happy to make progress on that project. Also got in a good bit of writing, which always makes me happy.

Pretty good week for television viewing. I caught another episode of Picard and, wow, I didn't see one of the deaths coming. Nice to catch up with old friends.

Watched another episode of Chicago Med. It's good to fill in some blanks from previous seasons of the other Chicago shows.

Got another episode of No Offence viewed and, seriously, thoroughly enjoyed it. Viv, Dinah, and Joy are terrific characters.

Started another two-part Silent Witness. This ended being an interesting episode. I'm looking forward to watching the second part.

Caught another arc of Classic Who. I gotta be honest, this season Four is kind of annoying me. He's not quite as fun as the previous seasons.

Watched another episode of UFOs: The Lost Evidence. This one focused on past and present possible visitations. Interesting stuff.

Got two more episodes of The Muppet Show. I'd completely forgotten they let one of the old guys backstage for a while. He's not nearly as fun when he's not with his partner.

Caught an episode of Peak Practice and it had a lot going on but ended up being really good. I'm thinking there will be a sad good-bye in the near future.

Started a new episode of Blue Heelers. I'm hoping to get a little more about Rose. I'm still trying to make a connection with that character.

That's pretty much it for television this week. Tonight's post is from Missing You, a sexy short that got a start with a writing community prompt.

Here's the mini-blurb:

Clara Small, the best undercover operative in military intelligence, tends to burn bridges instead of building them. But when she destroys the one she needs the most, she has to find a way to make amends, which won't be easy because Wes Elliot rarely gives second chances.

And a sneaky peek…

Her choices lately, left a lot to be desired. And the fact Wes called her on them didn't help. He'd been particularly brutal this time around … not that she didn't warrant the treatment.

Heaving a sigh, she closed her eyes, going back two days in her head. Wes found out about her plan to get the intel they needed the same day word got out about who she picked for her pre-op sex romp.

Gaynor Bartleby, Vice Regent.

God, it gave Wes all the more reason to think less of her. No one liked Gaynor. He hadn't been elected to his post. Instead, he slid in as an appointee when the former VR stepped down for health reasons. The guy considered arrogance an art form and used a brush liberally whenever possible.

But Clara could give a hang about asshole behavior. Especially when half the unit got pulled out for a mission. Throw in waaaayyy too much alcohol and Clara stumbled into bed with Gaynor.

Warm body to scratch an itch. Too bad Bartleby hadn't been the body she wanted.

Which led her to Wes.

What the hell? How he figured out she slept with Bartleby, she’d never know. Didn't matter how … his reaction to it did.

He’d been so pissed and judgmental. "Gaynor Bartleby? Geez, Clara. He's low … even for you."

Clara flinched and hoped it stayed internal. Bartleby did scrape the bottom of the barrel, vice regent or not. Not at all the type she normally hooked up with. Wes pegged that one right.

She wouldn't admit it, though. "Hey, you told me to strike your name from the list." She smirked. "And you know how I am before an op. Had to take what I could find."

She realized her mistake as soon as the words left her lips. She'd given Wes the opening he wanted.

Rocking back on his heels, he fired off his first volley. "Speaking of said op." He took aim with both barrels. "You take your lame ass, stupid plan to the XO? A guy, and I quote, 'who sucks up oxygen he doesn't deserve'. Someone you, and I quote again, 'despise with the heat of a thousand suns' and get him to give the okay?" Warmed up, he bluntly asked. "What the hell, Clara?" He turned away. "Do you have any respect for the chain of command?" Angling his head back, he shot one more barb. "Or is it just me you find unworthy?"

Well, shit. She hadn't meant for her bold move to be insulting, but it would come across that way. And Wes had a point. She had a reason for going over his head … because she'd known Wes would say no. They'd lost too many souls recently and her plan had risk written all over it. She did deep cover missions, not down and dirty in and outs. But regardless of what Wes thought, Clara had the right skill set to pull off her plan.

And he knew it. Deep down where he didn't like to own things. She'd been lucky. Only had to deal with Wes two or three times in the year since he'd taken over as the unit commander. A year and two months since the night they'd spent together.

He snorted. "No response? Guess that answers that, then." He started toward the door.

Shit. Stupid lapses down memory lane.

Clara couldn't let him leave. "I'm sorry." She didn't want to head out for a dangerous op with him thinking the absolute worst of her.

Okay, he already thought the worst, but she did respect him. He should know it.

Wes paused and turned slowly, his face working hard to stay neutral. Clara appreciated the effort.

I'm pretty pleased with how this story is coming along. It's at about the halfway mark and I'm hoping to finish it up by the end of the year.

Sunday Snippet: Missing You

Happy December! The most wonderful, crazy time of the year is in full swing. I'm excited for the holiday and really need to get my house cleaned up so we can actually celebrate. LOL

The mega-crossover of DC shows occurred this week and it did not disappoint. So many things happened with interesting pairings and twisty turns. Supergirl and Arrow kicked off the fun and the crazy times spilled over into The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Great to see some familiar and new faces. I won't get into much more, but the double wedding ended up being a surprise for me. YAY!

Riverdale continues to go places I don't expect. I have such a love / hate relationship with this show. I'm actually so happy we didn't have any Lodge parent appearances. I loved Hermione last season but this season I'm very "meh" about her. I also loved getting some insight into Sheriff Keller's personal life. I'm not necessarily a big Mayor McCoy fan, but I like the interesting twist with them. I also, somewhat shockingly, liked the beginning of Chuck's redemption. I'll stay tuned to see if that comes to anything.

I need to catch up with Gotham. I had way too much work to get through and took a full break from television on Thursday.

I did manage to catch up with Murdoch Mysteries yesterday and enjoyed both episodes I needed to see.

I'm still watching holiday movies on the Hallmark channels and should get started on television episodes this week. I'll probably begin with the Doctor Who specials. That's kind of my thing; I always begin with those.

That's it for this week's television wrap-up. Tonight's post is from Missing You, a sexy short where my main characters are separated for an extended period of time and both discover it's not fun.

Once the initial edge of surprise died, his nerve endings went on alert. It couldn’t be. He slowly turned away from the wall. A lone female sat with her head hanging in her hands, fingers massaging the back of her neck.
She was close enough to touch. But he didn’t. Couldn't make himself, in case she wasn't real.
He whispered. “Clara?” He had to be dreaming this.
Clara shot off the edge of the bed and swung around. “Wes?” She took a step back, shocked to see him.
Clearly Stern had told her he was in the brig, charged with mutiny.
Wes scrambled to the edge of the bunk and swung his legs down. “Yeah… you’re… uh… you’re back.” He stood and crossed to her not quite believing she was here.
Reaching out, he ran his thumb down the side of her face. Real skin… she was here. He brought his other hand up, cupping her face then tilted her head up to meet his lips in a tentative kiss. When she didn’t pull away, he drew her closer and deepened the kiss. Oh gods. Things were looking up… Clara had returned to the fleet.
Clara's hands traveled up his arms and over his shoulders finally stopping to meet behind his head. She started moving him in the direction of the bunk. He wouldn't argue with the idea.
Reaching the edge, he paused and pulled back, searching her eyes for doubts. When he found none, he reached out and slowly unzipped her shirt and slid it off her shoulders. She pushed him back gently until he was seated, then she reached for her waistband and slid her pants down and stepped out of them. Wes followed suit by lifting his hips and sliding his boxers off then he grabbed her hand and pulled her toward him while he lifted his feet and swung them up into the bunk. She landed on top of him and didn’t waste any more time, lowering her head she pressed her lips to his and the fire started.
Wes wound his fingers in her hair and gently tugged her head back seeking the pulse point on her throat. His lips found the spot and she gasped when they made contact. Wrapping his arms around her, he shifted their positions pulling her under him before he continued his exploration of her. He wasn’t going to waste the opportunity to discover all there was to know about her.
Starting at the top her head, his lips trailed kisses all around her face. His tongue traced the curved edges of her ear and she shivered under him. She liked that…he’d have to remember that the next time she got in his face about something. His teeth grazed over her collarbone and her breath hissed out. He placed a soothing kiss over the spot while his hands caressed her skin, gliding down her torso. His lips soon followed as they kissed, sucked and nibbled their way up and down her stomach. Kissing the underside of each breast, he could feel Clara's hips moving as she wound one of her legs around his waist trying to draw him in closer to her.
His hand cupped a breast and he used his lips and tongue to tease all around the peak but never touching the nipple as it tightened in response. He heard Clara's frustrated growl before her hands moved to his head and guided him to the peak. Her whispered plea heightened his desire and when his lips finally drew the pebbled tip into his mouth he was rewarded with a throaty groan. Switching to the other side to pay homage, her fingers tangled in his hair and made him burn just a little hotter for her as she tugged at the short strands.
She pulled him up and caught his lips in a heated kiss. Her tongue sought his and drew it into her mouth stroking against it and he could feel his shaft swell to almost painful proportions. His hand drifted between her legs and his fingers met no resistance as he slid two between her soft folds causing her hips to buck against his hand. Breaking the kiss, he gazed down at her.
She nodded her head and whispered, “Now.” Wes moved over her, still stroking in and out with his fingers. He lined himself up entered her while drawing his fingers out brushing the tips over the nub of nerves at her core.
Clara writhed under him, her head thrashing from side to side on the pillow. He pulled back and plunged forward again, the feeling of her soft flesh surrounding him nearly causing him to spill himself right then. He set a slow steady pace wanting to savor every moment of being inside her. She reached down with her hands and cupped his ass, holding his hips close to hers as she met his slow thrusts, pushing against him. His head lolled back as the exquisiteness of being surrounded by nothing but her warmth pulled him closer to his climax.
Her hands grasped his arms, short nails digging into his skin and her legs wrapped around him holding him still so she could grind hard along his length, and he knew she was as ready as he was. He bumped lightly against her and she went off, clenching around him, biting her lip to hold back her moans. He bumped against her again and her legs slid down giving him room to stroke in and out of her at a rapid pace that had stars exploding in his mind as he came buried deep inside her, hips bumping softly as he fought to gasp air into his lungs.
He was pulled from his starry haze when the alert sounded, and snapped awake to the call for action stations.
“Shit!”
He was alone in the bunk and needed to change. A rapid succession of thoughts crashed through his brain as he leaped from the bed stripping off his shorts and replacing them with quick efficient movements. Clara was still gone, his father was still in sickbay, Stern was still in command, and things were still fubar.

Nothing like a good sexy dream cut short by action stations. LOL

That's it for this week. Catch everyone on the flipside.
